Age requirements 5.0 and up
This class is designed to complement the dance training received at Charlotte Klein Dance Centers. Formally known as Acrobatic dance, this style fuses basic ballet technique with gymnastic elements and balancing moves. Acro dance emphasizes smooth, graceful transitions from dancing to each acrobatic move, and focuses on movement with incorporated feats of agility and motor coordination.
In the Acro/Stretch program, our dancers will increase their strength and flexibility, as well as their fluidity of dance as they transition in and out of acrobatic movements. Students work at their own pace to develop basic skills such as front and back limbers, walkovers and aerial tricks, such as a no-handed cartwheel. These movements use the body to flip or twist over itself as a transition to other moves, and in the case of aerial tricks, the body may not even touch the ground during the step.
Our instructors will teach their students different moves and series of movements, to practice in class. As your child becomes stronger and increases their flexibility, movements taught will become more complex and require greater strength. This class is a great way for both boys and girls to maintain strength conditioning and flexibility as it pertains to the needs of other dance styles.
