GENERAL INFORMATION AND STUDIO POLICIES
For over 60 years with the reputation of Excellence in Dance Education, Charlotte Klein Dance Centers has offered a complete program of dance education for children and teens. Classes are available for all levels from beginner to the advanced student. A multiple class pre-professional program for those interested in an intensive dance study is also provided.
CLASS LEVELS AND PLACEMENT
Our studio uses a system of levels to match students as closely as possible within each class and subject. Students are placed in classes based on age and years of experience as well as skill level, coordination, musicality, focus and maturity. Each class can therefore be paced to meet the needs of the majority. It is very important for parents and students to understand that dance class levels are not the same as grade levels and that students may not always change levels each year. This does not mean that they have not made progress or that they are being “held back”. In fact, in most cases the entire class progresses as a unit. Students who dance above their level will be moved accordingly, based on evaluations by their teachers.
COMPETITION ELIGIBILITY and SPECIAL CHOREOGRAPHY
Students must be evaluated and/or selected by the teachers in order to participate in competitions. Students interested in participating in dance competitions must be enrolled in a program of 4 or more classes weekly, 2 of which should be ballet classes. In order to compete in a certain style students must take all the offered classes in that style (example: If a student who wants to compete in a tap dance the student must take tap). Students must take a full program in order to participate in special choreography. Requests for special choreography for small groups, trios, duos are welcomed, however solo choreography is to be determined by the teachers and Rachel Rubin. Please note that competitions and special choreography are additional cost that is not included in the yearly tuition.
